Throughout the human history people make wars that always scar in the memory of soldiers and civilians - the war history fills the most terrible and heroic pages in the book of life. The interest for the war history is not very rare for Karelia region, because it was a scene of bloody battles from 1939 to 1944 - during Russo-Finnish Winter war and Great Patriotic war.
Nowadays people search the information about their ancestor who was at war but was missing in action. They get the information from the Military commissariats’ archives and groups of people who search the remains of missed in action. Those who got such information try to come to mass grave sites.
Many monuments and memorial complexes were built up on the territory of our region to keep the history for the future generation. Military historical trips and festivals are organized in Karelia in Medvezhegorsky, Suojarvsky and Pitkyarantsky regions.
